A few of the medicinal properties of wintergreen.

Medicinally, wintergreen leaves are taken internally as a decoction to treat nephritis and bladder problems. It is used as a diuretic, for the treatment of neuralgia, as a systemic tonic, to stimulate menses, and to aid in bringing on lactation after childbirth. It has also been used to relieve children's headaches. Leaves have also been used for headaches and other pains, and as a gargle for a sore throat and mouth.

Externally, oil of wintergreen is widely used in liniments for the relief of muscular-skeletal pain, both from sports injuries and arthritis. Because of its aromatic and pain relieving qualities, the oil is used in a number of products in aroma therapy, including stress-reducing pulse point creams, foot scrubs and balms.

Back Pain Relief That Makes More Sense

When it comes to back pain, knowledge is power. The more you know, the more you can be in control of your own treatment, and Muscle Balance Therapy™ is one of the most powerful tools you can use to help you take control of your situation. A basic fact about back pain is that most treatments fail because they begin at the end—that is, they merely focus on the pain, which is just a symptom of a larger problem.

Muscle Balance Therapy is an innovative approach to eliminating back pain once and for all, starting with a careful yet simple assessment of all the muscles that affect the stability of your hips, pelvis, and spine—from both a strength and a flexibility perspective. In a sense, what Muscle Balance Therapy™ is asking you to do is a very "unbalanced workout" to get your body back into proper balance. Once your muscles are more balanced and you're feeling better, you will be able to return to your workplace or to your favorite activity with the confidence and security that you need to live a full and productive life.

A word of caution: If you feel even minor back pain, you should take it very seriously—your body is telling you that something is not right. Failing to address this situation now will likely result in a higher level of pain and having to work much harder and much longer to get yourself back to a pain-free state.

Sciatic can be painful, especially when you don't know how to deal with it. People who suffer from sciatica will often feel pain in their leg which can travel from the back of their thigh up to the thigh and in some cases up to the hip or down towards the foot. For some people not only will they feel pain but they may find that their leg become numb and they will have problems in trying to either move or control their leg.

Common pain relief method may suggest bed rest for about two days. This may be helpful, but only in a limited time, as inactivity may actually cause even more pain from your spine and legs because they lose their condition and support. Evntually it may lead to further injuries and pain. Exercise, on the other hand, can help in keeping the proper flow of fluids and nutrients to the discs affected, making healing faster.

Sciatica exercises provided by most doctors, web sites and health care providers generally focus on the strengthening of both back and abdomen muscles that can help in providing more back support. Stretching exercises work best for sciatica sufferers as it helps in strengthening and stretching the muscles that have tightened (tense) and thus help hasten recovery from flare ups and even prevent future sciatica episodes.

Asking your doctor about the proper exercise is really important to prevent causing more pain. These exercises may depend of the case every patient may experience and other underlying conditions, thus asking medical help and permission is necessary.
